Hello everyone, There was a delay in our flight to Puerto Rico. We arrived at our home about 5AM My wife is still sleeping and I just made coffee and breakfast. I'm ready to get to work very soon! @SensibleSal66 Here are 3 examples of Capped Die (Obverse) Cents from my collection that I've shown here on CoinTalk way before you were a member This Cent is two Mint errors. It's a capped die strike on a Split Planchet
Okay, thanks for sharing! Are they all capped on the obverse? Never on the reverse? Oh. What kind of coffee do you prefer? Just in case you're up this way.
It all depends how the US Mint sets up the die in the machinery. I think the Hammer Die is usually the Obverse image and they Anvil Die is set up as the Reverse image. But when I visited the Philadelphia Mint once I learned that they could be switched.
