Note those little dots above the A. That piece is from Gräfrath; today the place is part of Solingen, NW. Pretty elaborate CoA ... Christian
I think that the neatest of the notgeld coins are those made of porcelain, usually around Dresden, but there are others. The porcelains were different colors and extremely nice to look at. I used to have quite a buch but traded to a nolgeld collector, along with about 700 notes .. some with beautiful lithography.
@Siberian Man: I have hardly any war money/notgeld pieces, just a few that you already showed here. Gräfrath (the one in NW) is actually pretty close to where I live, so I knew ... Thank you for showing your collection! Christian
Bad picture, but here's one I picked up at a local show last weekend (showed these in the Germany thread, but this one is more appropriate):
Right, today Coburg is in Bavaria - at that time however the city was part of the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. In the 1918 revolution the two territories (Coburg, Gotha) became two separate republics, and two years later the former joined Bavaria while the latter joined the newly founded Thuringia. The portrait does not show a ruler, by the way, but St. Maurice (Mauritius), the patron of Coburg. Christian
Very nice collection Siberian Man, congrats! Here is my Westphalian series in progress, now with only one to complete.. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/wesphalian-set-1921-1923.284727/#post-2535619
