1973 error lincoln

Hi, I just came across this penny, it belongs to my dad and I wanted to know if this coin is rare enough to be of any value. thank you for your help

That is a nice huge CUD!
It's a Die Break. The Die used to strike the Blank Cent Planchet broke off and that part of the Cent was not formed.
These errors do bring in a nice premium! I love it!

 

That's a very nice full cud. Very collectible.

I just realized I, maybe, have a brother:

 

Looks close to LC-73D-13A
According to the CUD book

 

They both look Misaligned also on the right side of course.

 

It is close, but I don't believe it is the same. Look where the cud crosses the W in We and the area around Lincoln's ear.

I don't believe it is pictured - could be one of the stolen pictures.
