My first post here! Glad to have found the forum!

I was fortunate to have dug this half reale yesterday. However, despite ID'ing and dating many coins, this one is beyond me. I believe it's a King Phillip variety, but that's where my confidence ends. Could someone please help me ID the time frame in which it may have originated. Any other added details would be great as well. Thanks in advance!!

Ooh! Great find! Where are you, that you found that? (Not specifics, just general area).

I agree that that looks like a Phillipus monogram, but like you, I'm not much further along than that. I'm not very strong with cobs (though I like 'em).

York County, Virginia. I'm not too far from Williamsburg/Jamestown.

Good to see you here, Mike. I'm afraid I can't help you with the coin but I love it just the same.

Thanks, Bruce! I appreciate the warm welcome! No problem with the help. I'm happy to share this and hopefully more in the future.

Try posting it in the Ancients forum if you haven't already. I rarely go there but it seems to be quite active. (I don't know if this qualifies as "ancient" so maybe World coins forum instead?)
