How’d I do? Walking Liberty Half Dollars

I still like to dabble in buying and selling, though most of my purchases are online due to my job and location not being permissive to in person purchases. Here’s another recent purchase of mine. What would you have paid for these? I’ll put what I paid below. Will I make my money back? Sure hope so

Also, from these photos alone, does that 1923-S look like it will straight grade?

I love the design of these walkers. Overall a nice lot of coins...mostly problem free with honest wear.

WOW, that's a nice batch! I'm liking the 1917-S and 1918-S as well - not sure about the economics of getting them slabbed, but they're nicer pieces.

On the 1923-S, I don't see any immediate red flags. But my record for submitting Walkers for grading is precisely 0-and-0, so I'm not your guy for advice.

 

I agree completely. That coin sells on Heritage in VF-25 for $200-$250, and VF-30 for $300-$400.

I believe the rest of them you'll have no problem moving as generic Walking Liberty halves. Right now the silver value for each is $24.88. If you take them to a shop they'll give you some percentage back of spot (if they're even willing to take the risk right now), but you should have no trouble selling them here or on ebay.

I'd say if you get the 23S in a problem free mid-VF slab, you'll have no problems making a profit on this lot.

 

While the obverse of the 1923-S looks good, the reverse is light
and may have been cleaned? If it is just honest wear I also like VF 30.
I also like the 1917-S.

 

I think the 23-S will straight grade. Halves like these gave .36169 ounces of silver. At today’s price that’s about $25.00 each. I think you did good to buy them.

 

Given your track record, I expect there'll be a certain amount of jealousy here when you do...

 

This one cost me a little more than I’d hoped. Seems I wasn’t the only one who saw the more valuable coins. The good news is silver values continue to rise, so I should come out okay.

 

You will if you hold them as silver will continue its rise in price.

 

I have Walker folders. I just picked up 1921-S and have 1916-S.

 

How many more to go? My folders are filled.

 

I have quite a few left to go. Silver is high so the common holes are not filled.

 

Spot price on a half dollar is now $32.19. I can understand what you haven’t filled some of the common dates. Three coins is a hundred dollars.

 

I usually buy on Ebay but sometimes I buy from a precious metal shop. He will say the minimum price is a little more than spot. I bought a lot of Walking Liberty so I bought the book.
