At the next table I stopped at, I saw an interesting piece of ancient Thracian arrowhead money, which I’d never seen. I’ve seen the Olbian “dolphin” money, but not arrowhead money. I bought it. Why not? Forget what I paid. $25 or $30, I think. Doesn’t matter- it’s for the giveaway stash.

I stopped by Wizard Coin Supply’s massive corner booth at the back of the room. It seemed to be unattended. Wanted to find a blank quarter album for my Swiss francs (they’re about the same diameter as a US quarter). They didn’t have one. Just blank cent and dime Danscos. Oh well.

I had previously found a nice album made expressly for Swiss francs online from another dealer, but they want 90 bucks for that. Ouch. Not ready to do that.

A shipwreck coin removed from jewelry perplexes me. Was it in jewelry when found in the shipwreck, or recovered earlier and put into jewelry? If the latter, I'm curious how the provenance was preserved.

I finally got over to the Gallery Mint table, which had been completely mobbed on Saturday. I was the only one there when I went back on Sunday. Got me one of those tokens. The friendly guy briefly showed me their equipment. I asked what the hot plate and the cooking pot were for. As I suspected, they’re for melting the pewter stock.

He showed me the equipment they use for putting a lettered edge on these tokens. I hadn’t realized they had one! (Sorry, didn’t get pics of that. Will have to examine it later.)

Last-minute purchases for the giveaway stash, on my way towards the exit. The guy didn’t have change and the smallest bill I had left was a fifty. So when I bought the Seated quarter and he didn’t have change, I added the 1863 copper-nickel Indian cent and he let me have the pair for fiddy bux.

As I left, the room was looking pretty deserted. Quite the contrast to the hive of activity it had been.

Re. @-jeffB’s earlier question about drones and how they got those aerial shots of the floor, there are some upstairs rooms with windows offering an unobstructed view of the bourse. I just had never noticed those particular windows before. I had only noticed the middle ones, above the exit, which merely offer a partial view from the escalators.

Just beyond that welcome to Georgia sign…. Rob and I saw a dozen feral hogs grazing beside the highway. Not even remotely concerned about the cars zipping by fifteen feet away. Sure would hate to meet one of those beasts at 70mph on the highway!

Always wanted to visit a coin show, thanks for the report. Feels like I'm really there. Nice weather and plenty of coins. What's there not to love?

Yeah, that was wild. Haven’t seen any in years, and then there’s a dozen, grazing on the shoulder of the freeway.

Sounds like a wonderful trip! Thanks for letting us in on it @lordmarcovan and @Randy Abercrombie et al. Really enjoyed the thread. I need to see if there are any coin shows happening near where I live - looks like too much fun to miss out on!

Excellent thread. Truly enjoyed reading all your entries and all the Pictures. Looks like a really enjoyable time to remember. Maybe something for another contest perhaps. I do like the "arrowhead money" I didn't know they traded them. I have heard of shells as currency, however. :)

I drive to Florida twice a year and that St Mary’s visitor center is always a welcome sight after sitting in Jacksonville traffic.
