Every once in a while, my Jefferson Nickel dealings yield me a Buffalo Nickel or two. This 1936 was included in a page of mostly circulated Buffs. Not only does this coin look uncirculated, the luster profile appears prooflike. I know that there were proofs made in 1936, but this coin lacks the detail that we would normally expect from a proof, and they are rare and valuable and unlikely to just fall into your lap.

The other problem is that the coin is scratched badly in front of the braid on the jawline and neck, and it is worse than appears in the photos. Since the coin would certainly details grade, I can't just send it off to one of the TPGs to see what it would grade, so my question is, do PL Buffalo Nickels exist and do they look like this?

Some of the later dates are still in very good condition. I have a 1936 somewhere that was in better shape than all the rest. Maybe AU.
A smaller more normal photo in natural light may be better to tell.
It looks AU to me. Perhaps a different photo may look MS. You have it in hand so you know what it looks like. But coins are difficult to photograph properly. I am seeing chatter on both sides which suggests it circulated a little.

I don't care about the scratches. It's a beautiful coin despite the problems.

That has a distinct Doubled Die, could be the earliest die stage, (Five Cents) I haven't done much searching yet.
