I added this to the hoard. What do you think? All opinions welcome.

I'm finding that the services are being really tough.
Maybe that's a good thing. I don't know but it seems to me that more coins are coming back as Details Cleaned. Just my opinion based on sending coins for grading for 40 years. I like the coin posted, no matter what the services have to say.

Why would this need to be graded?

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

For authenticity, mostly. Trade dollars are one of the most highly fakes coins around. I don't see any red flags on this coin, but I'd be hesitant to drop $500 on a raw Trade dollar!

It looks good to me and I see no reasons why it wouldn’t straight grade.

The haloes around the devices and the mottled appearance of the fields - I've come to associate that look with old cleanings. If that doesn't get it, the apparently-fresh scratch just clockwise from AMERICA might.

Still nice, though, and one I'd be happy to have in my collection!

That would make a good reason. I think the coin is awesome and has great eye appeal. I wouldn't want to put it in a plastic cage.

I’m sure it’s been cleaned and it has retired nicely but on the darker side. With this series I think the TPG’s are more lenient. At least it has no chop marks and I’ve seen straight graded Trade Dollars with chop marks, and not just one of them but as many as four.
