Awesome show report! Thank you for sharing with all of us whose feet would start hurting 30 minutes in on day one :)

Thanks. Hope I get an XF40, but VF30-35 would be acceptable.

Mine are feelin’ it, and poor Randy suffers a lot from his bad back.

Randy is making various uncomfortable groaning and rumbling sounds now, in the aftermath of the grand feast.

Like I did, after overindulging last night on that Caribbean food.

I asked him if it was worth it. He said yes.

Tonight, having learned my lesson from last night’s binge, I was more cautious, and left most of my angel hair pasta and the mushroom sauce unfinished. I was going to take it back to the hotel for later, and asked for a box, but the waiter misunderstood, whisked away my unfinished leftovers (never to be seen again), and brought me an empty box!

What am I supposed to use that for?!?

He later apologized for the error and offered to cook me a new portion, but I declined. Truth is, he probably saved me from myself. Last thing I needed was more greasy leftovers at midnight.

I did save some of the bread. That’ll be breakfast in the morning.

    Sorry I’m missing it, guys.

As it turns out, my flight’s been delayed by more than an hour, so I could’ve made it to my flight from Delmonico’s after all. Another time, perhaps!

And this was among the free literature being handed out. I don’t know why but my wife found it to be quite funny.

Thank you! I couldn’t make it through the crowd at that booth, as previously noted.

Scarsdale Coin on Collectors Universe posted this picture, said that the dealers had an unprecedented show, and that attendance on Thursday was over 10,000!

I’m thinking those scouts might be working on their coin collecting merit badge. Cool!

    Thanks for all the updates.

All three days I was there the attendance was high. Thursday was packed with people waiting an hour to get down the escalator once the show opened.

1). Abut the food and the empty container. You should have asked them if they were stupid or something. ;) Did you guys leave a tip?
    2) The floor is so big and congested that I would definitely have to seek out the bathroom, in case you know? i can't even detect more than 2 hours w/o having to pee.

Yep, I expect so. There were also a lot of kids on a sponsored scavenger hunt, with questionnaire sheets they had to fill out the answers to at various tables. The completion of these questionnaires no doubt earned them a coin prize, but I don’t know what that was. (Proof set, maybe? Something like that?)

While I was with @messydesk and he was photographing my coins, he kept getting interrupted by kids, because his table was the designated spot for them to get the answer to Question #8: “What was the first United States dollar coin to contain no silver or gold?” (Answer: the Eisenhower dollar.)

One wonders. There is a similar vantage point from the top of the escalators, but it’s not unobstructed like that. There’s probably some catwalk I don’t remember seeing, or for that matter, security cameras and suchlike. Could be a higher resolution color camera up there with the other security cameras, I guess?

What, what? Was the question really dollar coin?

Also, why are you up at 3am?

Of course we left a tip. Aside from the to-go box slip-up, the waiter was superb, and very friendly. After 39 years in the service/hospitality industry myself, there is no way I would ever NOT leave a tip, let alone ask rude questions like “are you stupid or something?
Reckon I’d file that one under “TMI”.

Yeah, sorry, I mistyped. The question did indeed specify dollar coin. Fixed my post.

Since I work as a hotel night auditor when I’m not on vacation, my circadian clock is set to 3:00 AM being “nearly time for lunch break”. (Since they make me clock out for a 30-minute break, I usually do that at 4:00 AM.)

All this means that even on vacation or my nights off, I’ll frequently wake up around this time.
