I have had the same 3+6=9 Achromat for the past 15 years. It cost me $99. At the show they wanted $150. I had to pass on that.
I'll be at table 806 doing photography. Stop by and say hi. One other thing you might want to do is spend a little time at Heritage lot viewing. It's in a quiet room away from the bourse. You have to register with them, which you can do for free online and doesn't obligate to you to buy anything, ever. They have catalogs in the room, which you can take with you if you like. The coins that will be there are for this auction: 2026 January 14 - 17 FUN US Coins Signature® Auction #1390 Browse it online ahead of time and find stuff you'd like to see in person. They will let you look at anything you want, but the super-high value stuff might be at a separate table with more security guards. To save time, have a list of lots you want to see ready so that you can check them off on the "menu" they'll give you. They hand you a box of about 25-30 coins at a time. In addition to lot viewing, the auction companies (Heritage, Stack's, GreatCollections) tend to have some pretty amazing stuff on display at their tables.
oh my, and SO close to the FUN show! My girlfriend is taking me as a Christmas present.......maybe she will spring for a meal there?! I'm old, who knows how many great meals I have left in me?!
An important time-saving addition . . . Make note of the dealer’s table number where you see coins of interest.
Obvious, and yet every time I’ve attended, I’ve forgotten to do it. I’ve gotten so accustomed to shopping online that I’ve lost the knack for doing it in the actual physical world. Many is the time I’ve been on the bourse floor of a huge show like FUN and thought to myself, “so where can I type in the keywords to find what I’m looking for?”
Oh boy! A trip to Orlando as Christmas present? How did you swing that idea? My wife would send me also but alone. Wait. I do have cousins in Daytona.
Will miss not seeing you after not having gone since we met at FUN 202, PF. Hopefully we hit next year.
1st-timers or veterans....I hope we can all meet during the show and away from the show, including dinner (or lunch) during the show dates. My first FUN was 2020 (just ahead of Covid) and I was pretty much a loner that year before I met up with a few people from this and other forums. Not being at the right hotel didn't help facilitate hanging out with the guys. Anyway, I'll be arriving Wednesday afternoon. To do dinner or meet up at the bar and sit-and-chat....if nobody has taken the lead....I can be reached at corvettekid1969@gmail.com ..... and then we can text/chat to set stuff up.
Tell me about it !! At FUN 2020, I spend Day 1 (Thursday) mostly on the peripheries of the bourse....I didn't see a single coin that was of interest to me. I failed to realize that the dealers who had the stuff I wanted to see were in the premium locations closer to the middle of the bourse where the traffic was higher. Day 2 and later were like night-and-day compared to Day 1. In fact, I think I recall speaking to you and PF after Day 1 and saying I didn't find anything in the 2 or 3 aisles (out of maybe 10 or 12) that I had hit and sure hoped things would improve the next day. They sure did !
