The Fugio also has the distinction of being the first coin authorized by and produced for the US Government.
That is 100% correct it is the first coin that took an act of Congress to make. That's why the presentation versions have the name of the states in the ring Sent from my C6740N using Tapatalk

In my experience, that price range should get you a nice problem free coin in lower grade (VG maybe?). But you may have to look for a while; be picky!
I am not in a rush to purchase one. My feeling is I can find one at a bigger, more national show. Thanks so much for the feedback!
@Dimedude2 : sorry I'm late to the party on this one! $5/600 is a solid budget for a common, Bank of New York variety Fugio in VGish condition - in other words, a great type example for your collection! If you're not in a rush, don't be in a rush. Be patient and find a good example. I'm elbows deep in writing a guide for the variety - feel free to reach out with any questions.
Yea I find tons in VG -f,-vf, XF range . Au - 60 rare 61-64 is different really rarer. Love Fugio's Sent from my C6740N using Tapatalk
