1977 D Rosie, very odd bump

  1. Not sure what is going on with this, though maybe a glob of solider but you can see the strike in it
    and no damage on the reverse to have pushed it up??

  4. That's kinda what I was thinkn by the color, but could they have gotten that one spot hot enough and not deform the back as well? And

    I don't know! Since it's a clad coin, I was thinking that heat subjected to the obverse may have caused the clad layer to buckle. Maybe someone else has a better idea.

    Heat will do that to a clad coin for sure. Some type of impurity in the copper will expand and make a bump. Blew out a clad quarter with bumps on both sides.
