Find from the cash register: Nice 1968-D quarter Normally this wouldn't really be a "big deal" but I figured what the heck, could always spend it later if I changed my mind lol. Just don't often find quarters this old that look this nice.
That's what I was thinking about that 1959. Some lucky 'pennies' need to be saved...at least for a little while.
Ok…I’ve been working from the home office but ran a couple errands. Visited a few coins in the safety deposit box and went through a stack of notes I saved from when I had a paper route. Decided to keep a few of the duplicates and set them free. First stop was to get an iced tea at Dunkin. I got this back for spending 30-56 year old singles. Then off to the gas station for PowerBall ticket. I hope the good karma continues…if you know what I mean.
Those late 60's and 70's clad quarters are hard to find even with a little original luster left. Any clads "original design" that I find with luster I keep.
Change from a vending machine today: 1979-D SBA dollar Sometimes I debate whether these are worth saving, but I figure, what the heck; I can always spend them later if I change my mind.
That's what I did, for 40 plus years... LOL. I actually got several as quarters. The convenience store clerk must have wanted to get rid of them. I got more back in change than I think I spent.
Hunting dollars has always just been too expensive to do at a large scale, but I often intentionally use cash in vending machines and sometimes the light rail ticket machine just to see if I get anything interesting. Lots of SBAs (I just spent most of them once I finished my SBA album), presidential dollars, Sacagaweas/Native American dollars (usually only bother saving the NIFCs). Most interesting thing I ever found was 2 of the Alabama Innovation dollar. I wonder who spent them to get into that machine! Seeing less SBAs but still find a few and decided may as well keep them. People rarely seem that interested, something that's been the common consensus ever since they were minted I suppose. I still remember getting a 1999 SBA from a stamp vending machine (back when those actually took cash) and it was the first I even knew that they minted any in 1999.
4-2025D Lincolns from 7/11 this morning. 2 of them have a very early minor cracked skull. Super light.
Paid with cash at the Food Lion self-checkout this afternoon, and got three cents in change. Nondescript Zincolns, every one. (Got some amazing mustard greens, though!)
