Please bear with me as this is my first post on this forum; I am not overly familiar with the particular rules of etiquette on this site yet, but I'm trying and will adjust my post as needed or answer any additional questions. I did my best taking the pics without a micro lens at my disposal, and to make up for some of the lack of detail, I adjusted the contrast/color on some to bring out what I can see with the naked eye when possible. Anyways, the most apparent marks I can see are behind the neck, in front of the neck, on top of the hair, and in one of the pics, you can see a bit on bridge of nose. I added a pic of reverse, but as far as I can tell, there is nothing to note there. The coin itself is in pretty great condition considering the mint year (1988) and that it has been in circulation. Shiny and not much wear. What's something like this worth? I've seen a range of answers from $5 to $70 (except for the outliers that are priced higher for whatever reason.) Thanks for looking. Please be gentle on me! Edit:Imgur link with photos https://imgur.com/gallery/IHeqa
In my opinion.. I really don't see any clashing. Looks more a Die Deterioration Strike. Worth 10 Cents.
Maybe my pics suck. There are very apparent clash marks especially behind the neck. They are raised and look exactly like some clash marks I've seen on Roosevelt dime die clashes online.
So here is an image I found online that shows obverse die clash marks. As with my coin, they are behind neck, under chin, and around profile of face and front hairline.
Yes. That is a great image of a true Die Clash. But I see nothing on your Dime. I see a bit of a sunken field look on your obverse and small chips that are caused by Die Deterioration.
The clash mark behind the head are too close to the hair. I am in the camp of Die deterioration, It is definitely a late die state by the way the fields look. Although there could be a clash. It doesn't have any definition to what on the reverse clashed. There are a lot better examples of a dime clash out there. I have a couple that you can clearly read e-plu, and one with a date on the rev, and partial igwt. Happy hunting
