Well I guess you got unlucky. The first time I ever got halves, back in about March, I didn't find a single thing in $100 worth of halves. The next time i got $100 more, still nothing. This got me a little angry as i kept reading all the success stories on here. Thats all they are, success stories, people don't post about not getting anything in a box of halves. Plenty of people don't get anything in a box, or two. Trust me, I was about to give up roll searching until I found out that my current bank has them, and will order them for me. So far I have found 9 40% and 1 90% halves from this bank. One day, hopefully soon, you'll find a bank that will have them and get lucky.

I got bored and picked up 2 rolls today.
    I got 1-1964, 2-1968, 4 nice DDRs, 4 decent 1976s, and about 3 that were near PL.
I thought that was pretty good for 2 rolls.

Basically there ain't no "get rich quick" scheme in searching rolls. And Ryan is right - you only hear the success stories.

You don't have to buy boxes or bags. It's just luck. When I buy halves, I buy one roll at a time. The second time, I got very, very, very lucky and found a Walker (common date - 1939 or something). I've also found a couple silvers.

But the last five or eight rolls have been nada, zilch, zippo, forget about the rent, etc... Nuthin, nuthin, nuthin.

Of course, I didn't lose anything except that I don't like returning them to the bank, so I have to pawn them off on Walmart cashiers!!!

Not my best finds for wheat cents. I've found twice the amount above before in $20....but the IHC makes up for it :)

I've had losing streaks that lasted 20+ BOXES of halves.

Don't feel bad if you don't find any the first few go arounds.

I just got 50 bucks in halves, and one of the rolls had 13 40% coins. Nothing in the others though.

I wish i could find more coins from the 30's 20's and teens though :(

I do have a few 1909's but they weren't found in rolls or circ.

I prob have enough to put an album together now. I can't stop. It's addictive to find old stuff :) I do nickels once in a while, but the finds aren't as good. Dimes and quarters would be frustrating to me and one day i'll buy $100 in halves

I did find a lot of older memorials. A lot of coins from the 60's were in the bunch. I was finding on average 1 wheat cent per roll. For fun i would leave them face down until i was done and then try to guess the decade by the wear.

    My Experience Searching...

Hey all, this is my first post but I've been searching rolls of cents and nickels for 3+ years now. My best find is in my avatar, a 1999 Wide AM lincoln cent that I sent off to be graded by ANACS, and it came back MS-65. Most recently I looked through $50 in nickels and found two war nickels, and about 10 pre-1960.

When I get boxes of cents, I usually average a wheat per every 3-4 rolls. However, last time I went I got an entire box of bank-wrapped uncirculated 2007-D rolls. I've still got the box, and I'm not sure what to do with it. Are there any 2007-D lincoln cent errors that I could look for? Otherwise I'll probably keep a few rolls and send the rest back to exchange for circulated rolls. Thanks for the input!

I hate when I ask for rolls and they give me brand new coins - lol. I put two rolls away myself recently - not sure about errors. War nickels are always nice to find although I have searched about $100 to $150 in nickels and not found one. I average around 4 pre 60 from every $10

    BTW - nice cent :)...

I've never had a losing streak last that long, but I've had my share of "bad" boxes. I'll bet I got 10 or 15 boxes of 1998-Ps in a row, about 2 years ago. Then about a year ago I went through a period where I got maybe 10 boxes of 1994-Ds. You just have to work through it.

I got a box of 2007-Ds about a month ago. They are just sitting on the floor in my office, but a friend of mine says he's sold them on eBay for $65.00. I'm trying to decide if $40 is worth the hassel, or if I should just put the box away and let it sit for $20 years.

I bought 4 rolls of Jeffs today from the bank sealed by Brinks, and I found a nickel with a shattered die reverse, but I have to look into that further to make sure that's what it is. I trade rolls for different rolls just about every day, but my error finds are scarce. I suppose rarely is better than never.
