    Good afternoon!

I have never seen a Henning nickel in person, only in pictures. Do I actually have one?! It weighs 5.3 grams

    Thanks!

Yes. The mushiness on both sides and the loop in the R in Pluribus.
It should weigh heavy. This is the "real" deal.

I think the highest Hennings come is XF, "extremely fake"...?

It's genuine. One characteristic is a very faint die break showing from the dome of Monticello to US in Pluribus. Yours has that so it's a genuine specimen.

looks like one to me.. that blown out R and the die break from the S I'd say 99.9% likely you have a Henning :D Nice find!

The reason why I wondered is that it seems like people could take a genuine 1939 and slightly alter the "R" to look like a Henning. Altering the weight would prove difficult. Are there counterfeit Hennings?

I can't say "No" to counterfeits after all it IS a counterfeit but I haven't seen any, but I've been hunting one long enough to know one when i see one. Also while I can see the R being "tooled" adding that die crack is another story. I fairly positive it's a real counterfeit nickle but I doubt it's a counterfeit of the counterfeit :D

What really bugs me is that I have coin roll hunted for years and never knew about the Henning nickel until recently. Nickels have been a favorite of mine to go through. I hate to think of passing any up.

To be clear, I bought this nickel and did not find it in the wild. However, I bought it quite cheaply.
