I purchased this over a year ago, for no other reason than it was BU, graded, but more because it seemed very odd (and I snagged it during a middle of the day, midweek auction for about $50). What is going on with the obverse of this coin? Looks like a doubled profile, some minor clashing under the chin. I don't even care about VAMs for the 21's, so many it's not worth researching. I guess my question is that........is this a VAM or some other kind of abnormality??? I found an old saved image of it, thought I'd ask the class. 1921obv.png 1921r.png

Usually it's "Strike doubling" or "machine doubling (same thing). I also see toning which makes it look more pronounced.
