Seems a bit much to me, but its a nice coin.

I wouldn't spend no more then $115 for it myself. Dunno if there is any tooling or not. Looks OK.

That depends on how much you like the coin. For this type I could only locate one other sold (the same example you illustrate above). It's rare enough that you likely wont find another. So, is the price acceptable to you? Personally, I like the coin and I think the price is quite fair. I would expect it to be $500 and up. I would buy the coin.

I like the coin, but, like many of the others, I have no idea of pricing

I face this question all too often. Yes, the coin is attractive and rare but the type would only bring a premium from someone who knew enough about Commodus to appreciate the fact that it is not a common type. Many others would rather have a more common type that has a more interesting reverse. I tend to think that if you were a serious Commodus collector, you would know (without asking) that you want the coin so I would ask whether you would rather have $380 worth of a Hercules, donative scene or other popular reverse. In the long run, I do not think you would regret owning the coin. If you do not buy it, I suspect there will be times you will regret the loss.

Sweet coin ... ro, you should buy that scarce OP-example "and" buy a cool Hercules example!!

You can never have too many Commodus examples

Sidenote => the coin does have a nice comfy look to it as well as apparently being scarce (I agree that you'll probably look-back if you don't snag this example)

... nobody likes looking-back with regrets

@ro1974 I would suggest being careful to not post which coins you are targeting in an open forum. There may be "lurkers" here who my unscrupulously go after the coin and buy it out from under you.

I would suggest that perhaps you PM a couple trusted friends for their opinion, rather than an open post.

I am not criticizing, rather I am trying to offer friendly thoughts to help you get your fantastic coin that you really want.

Personally, I have no clue whether this is a good price. I usually go out on ACSearch, CNG Research, Wildwinds, and other sites to get past history on what this type of coin sold for in the past. Then I compare to the listing (condition, price, devices, etc.) to ensure I feel comfortable. RESEARCH. Then, I go with my GUT! "How bad do I want it?" "Is it something that I would regret if I do not get it?" Can I still buy groceries this week?" etc. etc.

    Good luck!

    Kindest,
    Brian

Thats a nice coin... where did you see that at? :D

jk. I'm not sure about the price either, but if its that rare and others have stated its worth owning then maybe you should get it.
