My wife got this coin in change yesterday. It's one of my more messed up coins in my collection. What do you have? 1964D Lincoln Memorial Cent. Holed. Bent. Post Mint damage on obverse and reverse. Anything else? Everyone votes and the winner gets it. A 1964D Lincoln Cent holed and damaged. Won't you participate and post yours also?
I think it's more than likely just pmd! Post mint damage. It does Look like Somone wore it as a necklace maybe at one point lol. But nothing more. And yes its a 1964D.
I will forever be grateful to the PCGS grading service that they condense the Sm. White Anac description: CLEANED SCRATCHED POLISHED CORROSION TO: Env. Damage- XF Details.
It's a bullet hole. It hit Abe on the side, made a U-Turn and hit him in the back of the head. What's today's date again?
@dwhiz. Do you know if the year 1876 has any particular significance? Very interesting group. Thanks for posting. James
I call this the Armageddon Quarter. Found in an intersection crosswalk on August 28, 2024. I forgot to record the time but it was in the A.M. on my way to the bus station. It's a 2006 Colorado Quarter. You can see what's left of the "Colorful Colorado" banner on the First image about 3/4 down.
Below is my worst messed-up coin: A sestertius issue by Gordian III, 238-244 AD. To get an idea of what the above type is SUPPOSED to look like: *** To clarify: The 2 images above are NOT the same example. They are 2 different examples of the same type. *** If interested, more information can be read in my old post here: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/why-not-begin-the-week-with-some-gordian.379693/#post-7485091
Yikes I know washers are expensive these days but back then Here are a couple pre washers if I run out. I couldn't find a picture the worst one I've talken out of a Coinstar...it looked like someone used a zinc cent to shim some steel gear. I'm sure I posted it earlier in the Coinstar finds. Had a waffle look with the zinc dug out of the middle...I may have just thrown it out.
I never kept or photographed many badly damaged ones. I will offer up this 1893 H Mexico 5 centavos (Hermosillo mint) I saved from the LCS junk box a few years ago. .903 silver
