Not really a penny collector, but was watching the news and today they minted the last penny, so what do you think on value ? including previous years, will they go up substantially ?

Eventually, but for now the same old same old will continue to hold the throne. The newbies with all that zinc, post 1982 through 2025, I'm not so sure, I'm not a fan. I still collect pre-1982 and I will leave it at that. "Old soldiers never die they just fade away." Sleep in peace and wake in joy my true American friend.

As far as I know, in the history of US numismatics literally no one has cared about the last coin minted. But since the mint apparently made a big deal out of this for their own greedy purposes, we'll see.

No interest at all. It's just a gimmick like a lot of what goes on at the mint.

Here's the link, and the Mints notice to make more moola! :D

"From now on, the only new pennies the Mint releases will be collector versions that aren't currency and will be produced "in limited quantities," the agency said in a statement."

The Mint produced the LAST pennies with what sounds like commemorative privy marks and intends to auction them to collectors.

Has anyone seen an image of the privy mark?

The choice of omega is funny, considering that was the mark of a famous counterfeiter.

Yeah, the irony crossed my mind too. I wonder who made that choice.

Here is a pic of the NEW "Omega Lincoln" cent...LAST of the Series 2025.

"The last penny stamped at the US Mint on November 12, 2025 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Treasurer Brandon Beach pressed the final pennies at an event held at the facility. The pennies pressed bear a special 'Omega' and will not be put in circulation, but will be auctioned off." Source USA Today

Someone will pay good money for it I'm sure, but well it's not going to be me lol... I'm not intending on counting this as necessary to finish my Lincoln cent set. Besides, not released for circulation, so doesn't "count" as far as I'm concerned.

It's going to get huge money, as it's a historic piece. $1M or more wouldn't surprise me. The Omega privy mark was in the die. It was officially chosen as a symbol of "the end," but I like to think someone at the Mint is trolling numismatists that are aware of its previous use. I've heard Great Collections is handling the sale. I hope someone at the mint rinsed those juicy prints off it after the ceremony or that'll be one ugly coin in 10-20 years. I also hope that GC exhibits it at FUN.

The Omega Lincoln Cent. Another contrived "collectible" IMHO.

Yes. Not a circulation or special proof collector pressing but a Commemorative along the lines of the annual Morgan and Peace Dollar commemorative. Not in my boathouse, thank you.

Noticed that right away too, unless it's extreme plating bubbles. Which would make sense for the last coin to be garbage like the rest. The omega mark looks rather cheesy too from that angle. But I'm a naysayer. Obvious money-making gimmicks from the mint do that to me.

They can have all the zinc they want I'll stick to pre-1982. One Omega, Again I'll keep trying Powerball the odds are much better at 2 plus billion to one!
