1970-s Jefferson FS?

I don't have much knowledge about FS Jeffersons, from what I've read they are hard to find from 1970 and below, other than that there are contradictions on the net about them. I have had this coin in a flip for a while and came back across it recently and to my untrained eye it looks FS. One place says they are common another says they are valuable, price ranges are all over the board and it says there are certain criteria to be considered FS. I'll ask do you think this is FS and could someone post a link that is reliable on these? I'd like to learn more.

Nice looking but I don’t think you have full steps.

 

I really don't know, like I said this is new to me. I looked up a few on PCGS graded FS seen a few sold through HA and to me this one looks better than the ones posted that made the cut. I don't know. I'm learning

 

It looks like a proof. Definitely full steps.

 

I don't know, it looks pretty good to me. What do you see that might make it anything other than a FS. The crack in the entranceway??

 

and that confuses me, I believe it may have been cracked from a proof set. There are business and proof strikes for this year correct? If like other coins higher grade business coins are more collectible than proof?

 

I think Full steps only applies to business strike coins. It's sort of expected for proofs.
A quick check of the pcgs price guide shows no listing for full step proofs

If it is a proof coin it doesn't qualify for full step designation.
Maybe they changed the rules, but a coin had to be MS to be considered for
full steps.

The 3rd step above the NTI is what I see as the problem. On the far left it curves dies and becomes part of the 4th step.

 

I don’t think this is a proof coin. Proof nickels can not receive the FS designation as that is only reserved for business strikes. I believe this is a business strike but as I stated above I don’t think it makes full steps. It is nice looking though.

 

Yeah, I guess. Now I'll have to use the old cane and go up the handicap ramp.

It has to be a proof. SF didn't mint any business strikes in 1970. (except Lincolns, that is )
