Question for those of you that sell and ship out coins.

What method do you use? Im looking for the most cost effective way to send out individual coins. I used to just mail them like letters long time ago but it dosent protect the coin very well. Are there any tips tricks or maybe products you can share with me?

    Thanks!

Bubble mailers, buy them in bulk from amazon. Ebay sales use the ebay system to print the labels it's a little cheaper. For sending things to PCGS ect I use the padded flat rate express envelopes or registered if the value is to high.

Well that's a hard question, how valuable are the coins, what size/weight are they. Do you want tracking?

I place all of my higher end coins and slabs in bubble mailers and first class with tracking its about 3 bucks. On single coins that are of value less than ten bucks I place them in a standard envelope between some rigged paper and usually pay the extra 20 cents to have them hand cancelled so they don;t go through the sorting machine.

They won't be high end coins, normal 1oz rounds. Which is why I want the cheapest method because I want

Never heard of the hand processed before. If your using just envelopes I assume you wouldn't just put them in the mailbox then. Do you use stamps? And take them to the post office?

I believe he's taking about "non-machinable". Just hand the envelope to the clerk and tell them that's what you want. It costs a little extra but not much.

So then you don't use stamps you pay them to mail it

I asked just because the envelope and stamp method will end up getting you crushed on eBay. Aside from unhappy buyers, without tracking all one of them would have to do is say they never got it and eBay would refund their money automatically

If you use envelopes that don't meet the "machinable" standards of height vs. width and thickness, they don't go through the high speed cancellation machinery. You pay a surcharge to that.

So with bubble mailers I can expect to pay about 3 bucks each?

2.77 or around there for the ebay label fee. That works for 8 ounces or less

I think 4 oz or less is like $2.61. Been a few days since I mailed something.

They'll print a label for you, but this isn't a perfect solution. As baseball said, this method opens you up to petty nonsense and really is only a viable option if very low dollar material you're willing to "self insure" (meaning eat as a loss whenever some schmo gets excited over the fact he can have a cheap coin for free).

I thought they changed it so 8oz or less was all the same price

I've recently acquired 100+oz of those copper zombuck rounds they seem to sell for 2-3 bucks a pop on the bay so I was thinking of unloading them there. But if I offer free shipping and have to pay 2-3 dollars when they only sell for 2-3 dollars, you see where I'm going :p
