Ok.. here's the deal this time 15000 packs 300 of which are to be gold. Full list not yet released but should be any day/time now :D At $99 a pop I'm probably in for the household limit (expecting anything from 3-10 lol)

a little different this time.. each of the packs contain a PCGS-Certified WTC Jamaica Half-Penny. 300 of which will have red cores and be redeemable for one of the 300 "gold" prizes :D

    3 top prizes over $100k

    1. 1879 $4 Stella in PR65
    2. 1795 $5 half eagle in MS62
    3. 1905 $20 double eagle in PR64

    Limit per Household: TBD
    • 1 PCGS-Certified WTC Jamaica Half-Penny per bag. Look for red cores!
    • 15,000 bags issued. 300+ Red Core hits.
    • MSRP: $99
    • Release Date: November 12, 2025

Yep, got the email on this one.

I think I’ll be in for exactly one. I don’t have a WTC coin, so that would be a win on its own, but chances are high you’d get multiples of this and nothing else.

1 in 50 chance of a red core... not great odds but not shabby either :D god knows I doubt I'll ever have another chance at a proof stella or dbl eagle lol

Here’s the way I see it. You have a 1 in 15,000 chance to hit the big one with the $225,000 instant buyback. What other lottery/raffle are you going to get those kinds of odds at? The next two down the list are still six figure buybacks. Who knows (yet) what else is in the red cores redemptions. I’ll buy my ticket for this one.

So $99.00 will get me one of these?

Cool... I been working on signing up. Quite the challenge for a digitally inferior person such as myself. Those odds are way better than the lottery. I think I'll go in on a one or two just for the little adrenaline hit.

They are fun to open, and this is the cheapest release I've seen.

But I have to wait until 11/12 to order, right?

That's correct, next Wednesday. They always come out with the announcement a week in advance.

Shawn, would you care to expand on the confusing, at least to me, 'PCGS-certified Mega Chase Answer Key' process? Released 2 weeks after the launch? So when you receive your Vault Box/Bag you won't know if you get a red core right away? Will you have to take a test with this 'answer key'?

LOL, your guess is as good as mine on this, Russ, as they've not done anything like this before.

The way I think it goes down is if you were to score a red core coin in the initial offering, you know that you're going to get gold. Two weeks later the list will be released with I'm assuming the slab number and the corresponding gold prize win.

Can I pay in cents; since there's a "shortage" of them now?

The loss percentage wise will probably stay the same on average coins but the actual dollar value lost will be much more palatable to people.

With 15k available, they may last slightly longer than a 5 minute sell out. If order limit goes up you may be out of luck if your random spot in the que is over 10 minutes. That's been the most frustrating part. It's about like a hot US mint release every time. People must enjoy gambling this way. I'm guessing its a lot of dealers and any business that could feasibly sell coins because they can write off the purchase price as a business expense. You do at least end up with something. If you get skunked you can sell back what you don't want and maybe get half your money back at least. Maybe break even.

2% chance of getting a gold coin. There'll probably be a lot of sub $50 coins in this batch. I would not trust any sales on the after market. A quick scan with a metal detector would indicate if there was silver in the package or not, despite the bronze being in there.

Edit: Ok it just dawned on me that all that's going to be in the bag, IS the Ground Zero Jamaican 1/2 Penny in a PCGS slab. There won't be another coin is my understanding now. Correct me if I'm wrong!

It says "Your 1/2 Penny will either be in a standard WTC label or in a Red Core VaultBox label. If you got a Red Core, continue on to step 3!"

Step 3 says Red Core redemption. Hold on to your Red Core! Two weeks after release the PCGS certified Answer Key will be revealed. The answer key will reveal the hit that corresponds to each red core redemption 1/2 Penny.

Have to e-mail them to receive their gold red core hit. So maybe there won't be any gold coins in any of the packages. Some of them could sit on the aftermarket unknown after its all said and done. There's never any way to know if all the hits are out. This ones kind of weird.

Is there a hot aftermarket for these? I mean, I used to work in a lab with a micro-CT X-ray system, and that could easily show you the exact dimensions of whatever coin(s) a package held. No XRF to get the composition, but there were lots of other labs on campus.

If there were a hot aftermarket, there'd be incentive for someone in a similar situation to cheat. If PCGS is shipping out the same coin to everyone this time, it handily short-circuits that path.

I still adamantly refuse to be a gambler, but man, they sure do make it tempting with prizes like that!
