The final coin announced is a copy of the 1907 High Relief St Gaudens $20. Other coins announced are copies of the 1804 Dollar and the 1916 Walking Liberty Half, Standing Liberty Quarter, and Mercury Dime. Not sure how I feel about them keeping the original dates on the coins with a privy mark. I am sure they will also be prohibitively expensive. Any thoughts? https://www.usmint.gov/coins/coin-programs/semiquincentennial/
I saw that. I would like to have a high relief St. Gaudens but I won't spend the premium that the mint will likely want for them. And I'll just say this and leave so that I can avoid the tomatoes being thrown at me...... To me all US mint designs have just been too sterile since they did away with human engraving. Yes, the coins are still eye popping, but they are just lifeless to me.
If I had to guess these would be one of the few US Mint products that would actually be worth buying and getting so you can sell later at profit. It might not be a bad coin for flipping, or perhaps more long-term holding.
