Perry Thank you for updating. I regret Guy's passing, and I celebrate knowing him! My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. I enjoyed meeting with him at the shows, and dearly enjoy the coins I obtained from him. He was as easy going a person as you could ever meet, honest, sincere, knowledgeable, and a great sense of humor. Among many things, Guy did much for the young numismatists in the hobby. They all loved him. He had been suffering with corticobasal ganglionic degeneration, a rare, progressive neurodegenerative disease, since 2012. He was a good friend and will be greatly missed. I only met him once or twice, and I knew he was struggling with this disease. Sad to hear of his passing.
I met Tom Wood this weekend as he was trying to sell as much of Guy's inventory as possible to support Guy's family after he passed. Tom would give me periodic updates as I was looking through Guy's coin, and it was heartbreaking to hear what he was going through with his illness. Whenever a young person or a new ancients collector bought one of Guy's coins, Tom would take a picture and send it to Valerie, Guy's wife, as well as send her stories that various collectors shared with him about Guy. I had sold a coin with the hopes of using the proceeds to buy some Chinese coins, but I decided to buy as many of Guy's coins as I could (and more) to help out. They will be posted in subsequent threads. On a side note, Tom is quite a classy and knowledgable dealer. He would always share a story or interesting fact about any coin a customer was interested in. Some were quite enticing, but other customers had found the coins before I did.
I own about a half dozen coins I purchased from Guy. Only knew him through those transactions, which were very pleasant. My sincere condolences to his family.
