1970 S Lincoln

    Need your opinions or expertise. Doubled Die? Sorry meant to post a 1970 S Jefferson first than this 1968 S. Oops!

    There appears to be a shadow to the left and to the right of Lincoln?

    I think I see what you're looking at, although the sharpness is not quite there. The 1968 cents (all three mints) are prone to strike doubling. It was the last year of this hub - big date numerals and high portrait relief. The next year, 1969, was a completely new master hub. Whether striking difficulties in 1968 were the reason, I can't say.

    I wish I had better pics of this coin. There are several Die scratches on the back between the columns. I think it has a second S (MM) norrh and midway within the MM. Very interesting! :D

    That's probably just strike doubling on the mint mark. Does it look anything like this?
