Very large "storm shelter" in the backyard... with a built in vault, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and storage. Problem solved.

Reminded me... When I married my wife back last century we lived in the country... And buddy I mean in the country. I had a .22 rifle that I would shoot out back. My boy had set up a batch of action figures on a pedestal for us to shoot when my wife says she wants a shot. She never fired a weapon before.... I kid you not. Very first shot with that .22 and she hit GI Joe so perfectly in his nether regions... She kept that GI Joe on her dresser for the longest time. If we had a disagreement she would point to him and give me... The look.... She had more fun torturing me with that...

Solution is to sell current safes one by one. Each time you sell go buy a bigger replacement safe. That way there will not be "one more safe." Mike

And every time she questions why the safe is getting bigger, just tell her the walls are getting thicker.

Yeah…. One is bolted down and the other needs four large men and a hand truck. The third one is small and rests on top of the big one. I can motivate myself to get one in. Motivation lacks though getting one out.

    Randy,
Sell your small safe. Get the one pictured below, and you're set for life.

I voted for "you wear the pants, do it".

Before I got married, I had plenty of room in my two car garage for all of my ish PLUS a 16 foot outboard skiff and a 14 foot duck boat with a mud motor. It didn't take long until I was ordered to find new homes for them. I did that, moved them both to our gulf place, should have plenty of room, right? Think again. Suddenly the entire garage was instantly a CF, she emptied out her storage rental and now theres ZERO room to walk in there. I literally had a small corner of a small shelf with my stuff and she byatched about why I needed that space.:muted: I do have a safe where I keep some stuff but it's in my closet and not in anyone elses space. But most of my stuff is in two bank safe deposit boxes, out of sight. That's not a great place for anything but pure bullion and junk silver.:(

She didn't say anything about a safe deposit. Rent a box at the bank and move the important papers and her jewelry to there. Once she gets tired of going to the bank every time she wants a different piece of jewelry to ware - she'll ask to bring another safe into the house.

So, your coins are properly stored and unlikely to suffer any ill effects from unsightly toning or corrosion.

Problem is, you got more than 1 problem. While display cases may be pretty to look at - they are quite often one of the worst options there is for coin storage. The wood, the plastics, the foam, the varnishes, etc - ALL of those things are very bad for coins. They are known for causing unsightly toning and or corrosion.

    So you should consider that.

Simple solution though, as long as you stand on the opposite side of a speedbump, you are perfect safe. ;)

Not a lot of respect going on for your wife so far. I have been married 45 years and will say straight out honesty is usually your best option.
My wife is also a huge jewelry person. I would tell her straight up what it is you want to do but add the caveat that you will make it right for her too.
I would also investigate the quality of protection (or chance for damage) these display boxes have.
Not related specifically, but I just looked at several Barber coins I need for a new set. All of them are in details holders (PCGS) with the note that they have "slide" damage. Very sad, the coins have nasty marks from the type of storage system used and I bet the owner is less than thrilled with the result.
Good luck and happy collecting no matter what you do. James
