My collection lacks focus

I have noticed that I've naturally been drawn to 3rd century Imperial silver (even to the point that I'm now starting to have multiple reverses for many 3rd century Roman Emperors). I didn't plan it that way, it just sort of happened naturally.

That being said, because I do keep an open mind I've also slowly shored up my ancient Greek collection, even managed to acquire a modest Roman Republic collection, and I've even acquired a decent sampling of medieval, ancient Indian, and ancient Middle Eastern coins.

Where I'll go from here, who knows, but I love the fact that I have the entire ancient world and medieval Europe covered. They are all beautiful and worth collecting.

Now all I need are Chinese coins. I haven't gotten into them yet because I haven't really collected bronze yet, but it's coming!

I'm convinced that my focus needs to be on having fun with my collection. That's exactly what I've been doing so I will just stay the course and probably developed some sub-interest's as I go. I have been building a bit of a library as well. I am also very interested in 17th and early 18th century Naval history so the book collection is fairly large too.

I guess I also have a another new aspect of coin collecting. I am trying to improve my photography skills. You guys sure have some great photos and I want to get there too.

I was going to type something similar. That's the best advice you can give yourself. Sit back and enjoy the ride, and who knows where your journey with ancient coins will lead ...

Focusing on one particular area can potentially be fun and obviously some of us enjoy it but you should only do it if you think you'll enjoy it. Otherwise collect whatever you find fun to collect.

One of the best posts ever! @Bing is dead-on it is about having fun and learning along the way. Do worry about finding your focus, it will find you and there is nothing wrong with being a generalist.
