A wonderful Tet, Randy. Definitely one I would love to own.

    Great snag @randygeki !

Mine is a bit off-beat, being an Egyptian Tet:

Nice score Randy. I've always thought the Alexandrian tets were a great way to check Otho off the 12-Caesars list. Better-grade coins have a great fabric: decent metal, great style, satisfying size in hand.

Absolutely. Marc Anthony legionary coins, Julius Caesar elephants, I could go on and on...

Very nice coin, Randy... worth postponing the Vitellius a bit to nab it! Cool provenance too.

My Otho is one of my favourite coins (an extravagant graduation present from many years ago). Ceres standing left, holding two ears of grain in her right hand and cornucopiae in her left. Forum identifies it as Otho's second issue, with the most desirable portrait style. I do love the portrait...

    Thanks, and sweet coins all.

Yeah with Vitellius I can afford to be more patient with I think

A great coin. How is the book?

Definitely. My Nero tet, though nice, has a grainy look and feel to it.

attractive otho tet RG...i'd love to have it.

i don't have one of him, and the entire first century is a huge weak spot in my humble collection.

Grainy or not, still a nice tet too.

I can accept grainy/porous and some other issues that come with Alexandrian Tets. It is a real challenge to find the smooth surface ones.

A little on the dry side unless you are into archaeology also. I haven't read it yet. I picked it up on ebay for about 3 GBP when I knew I was getting the coin. I think some of his other books may be a more enjoyable read, but they are expensive.

    Thanks!

Thats what I was surprised to find Otho at the price I did.

I was thinking about checking out that book or possibly this one. "COINS AND THE ARCHAEOLOGIST EDITED BY JOHN CASEY AND RICHARD REECE"

Because the book was written by the former owner of the coin.
