With a show coming up soon I decided to grab the latest Greysheet. At the bottom of some pages it gives spot prices at time of publishing. This months, October 2025 it says at time of publishing silver was $38.53. Well I never paid much attention before because you couldn’t really pinpoint a time frame but the last time silver saw that price was the end of August. I thought those figures would be more up to date for October. Not everything is tied to spot but many things are now. If anybody has a subscription, when do you get the latest in hand? Is Novembers already out?
One thing irritates me is the fact that the GreySheet way behind on gold prices. I’ve gotten editions when gold had gone up by over hundred dollars, and was not reflected in their prices. This is a big deal for gold coins which are only worth their melt value.
Yeah the gold spot is listed at $3,382.80 for October at press time. Only a $651 difference from then to this weekend. Press time for October must have been the end of August because again, that was the last time gold was that low. If they were printing Oct. in the last week of Sept. it would at least be $3700 to $3800.
Unless something has changed in the last 4-5 years, the prices/valuations in the Greysheet aren't changed very often
In general, the "time of publishing" is considerably earlier than the date on the issue date. Time of publishing is when the final copy goes to the printers. So, that is usually weeks ahead of the time the issue hits your mailbox or newstand. If you want pricing closer to realtime, you have to go to their on-line publications.
