I get 4 I think. It's been awhile since I thought of it. Nope - Paul's three is it. Either way, the 2016 gold does NOT get in.

I believe you are correct at 4 Kurt. There are enough design differences between 1916 and 1917 T-1 to differentiate dateless examples.

I'll cop out by repeating what I previously said, people get to make their own definition of what a type set is.

 

Agree, there is no way I could include 1916 SLQ in my type set and totally agree that a type set is whatever someone chooses it to be. There is absolutely no wrong way to define it.

 

I'm not near my "stuff", but isn't there a question about whether all 1916's are actually patterns, or am I thinking of another denomination?

 

Genuinely curious...why the heartburn over what someone decides to define as their collection parameters?

1964 is interesting to some, not to others. This could be a birth year, or the fact this was the last time there was circulating metal to back up the currency might be historically significant to some. Others may wish to keep going, others may not.

One of my favorite things about collecting, especially world coins and medals, is that I get to define the parameters of my set(s).
