Saw these on eBay today. Am I missing something here?

I'm guessing doubling is suggested on one. Nothing on the second one. Don't know and not worth much (on either).

You are not missing something. Both are completely ridiculous. No information that is of any use. The first looks to be an impaired gold plated coin and the second is certainly not an "Antique".

Maybe one of these yahoos is also selling the lint that came out of the same pocket.

Reminds me of people selling the Disney "Black Diamond" VHS tapes. A myth that was debunked a long time ago about their rarity. But one person did pay $8,000 once. You can pick these up in thrift shops for 50 cents these days. " A Fool and his money...".

I cant make out the 1st one, but the 2nd one IS the rare DDO for the year/mm. Easiest to see in Liberty, but why dont they mention this? Hmmmmm ....maybe they dont even realize what they have? Or these are stock photos? The listing says 40% silver so, it should actually be an S mint.

I didn't zoom in on it. I would be leery that this is the actual coin. A lot of money if not. The price tells me he probably knows but why the terrible description or lack of details. Too ameturish for me to tell anyone to go for this.

@tommyc03 I know right, one side of me says, this guy dont know what hes got. Offer him $50 and let him think he has a sucker on the line. The other side of me says, if i offer him $50 and he accepts I AM a sucker when/if he sends me a 40% silver quarter, which is what the description says

Kudos for looking closely and knowing what you're talking about before opening your mouth. Seriously... :)

That said, has eBay started allowing new sellers access to funds before the buyer is satisfied? If not, is there really that great of a concern when dealing with them?

Went through ten pages of feedbacks and all this seller sells is movies, and appears some are bootlegs. So, I say, stay away. Edit-Sorry Books, I was referencing the first one.

#1) THX Books, you just made my day! Its been a long one to say the least. Its good to know im not on your ignore list (4 some reason i thought i was)
As to your question, idk as i have never purchased from the bay. I like to assess a coin in-hand b4 purchase.

Nah... I've never ignored another member, and if I did it certainly wouldn't be you. ;)

Tommy is probably right about avoiding the guy, but every seller on eBay had to start somewhere. Asking $500 for an unattributed coin may not be the ideal way to get one's toes wet, but the greater point was that if (IF) eBay still withholds payments from newer sellers until the buyer is satisfied (or a certain amount of time has passed iirc), people shouldn't be so skeptical of them IMO. I'd like to think most of us know that some of the biggest and most offensive dreck peddlers on the bay also happen to have excellent feedback ratings...

Murphy's law.... and actually I believe there's three different coins.

    Good catch.

Funny, I just assumed someone was told by their grandmother to hold onto these rare issues because some day they'd be worth real money. If it is a high-end legitimate piece, I presume they'd be advertising it as such and not waiting to see if a potential buyer "discovered" the rarity for themselves.
