Unsure of what's going on with the 8 on this little beauty. Doesn't resemble 8/7 varieties. All advice would be greatly appreciated
It looks like the small letters variety although it's difficult to tell if the A and M are don't touch from the damage, wear and pictures. I looked in my 1992 copy of Snow's Flying Eagle and Indian Head Cents and he doesn't list any doubled dies or repunched dates for this variety. Even if it was a Large Letters variety, none of the doubled dies match up with circled regions and all of the repunched dates are minor and probably would no longer be visible on your coin
The damage was caused by clamping whilst someone drilled a hole in it. It is certainly not a little beauty.
