It looks indeed like an 1896 micro-O contemporary counterfeit. @Diane Harriet please note this "coin" is not just more interesting but also more valuable to collectors than any common year circulated Morgan dollar. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Lol. That's possible though if they used one as a die template. I suspect it's not a v4 but it's kind of hard to tell for sure. Would like a clear close up of the mm
Nice coin, and correctly graded at F12, IMO. Well, if a coin dated 1896 makes you feel like that, try an ancient coin on for size.
We need to collectively ask Dougie aka @GDJMSP what it was like hauling Roman Aes Graves around in his Toga.
Definitely by the end of the week. I took those photos with my cell phone but will sit down and take better photos with a different device. My friend @SmokinJoe taught me about his USB microscope he uses which takes nice clear photos. Amazon to deliver soon.
It's amazing to me how much knowledge all you gentlemen have and how willing you are to share it. Thank you. So, I'm guessing this should be one of the coins I keep instead of giving away to my nieces.
I don't consider it teasing. Heck, we don't get a chance to talk that much as it is. Chris PS. Now! How about adding some new emoticons?
