You do realize this is an ancient coin thread, right? We do things differently 'round these here parts. I guarantee you there are members of this group at least as qualified to authenticate ancient coins as the folks at the well-known grader/companies.

There's no way to authenticate a coin purely based on pics. An obvious fake may stand out but you need to examine a coin closely with a loupe, weight it, and have some experience to determine if real. Even the experts are sometimes fooled.

A good rule of thumb is to buy from reputable dealers until you develop some experience in the field. Vcoins is a good place to start.

Check that thought for a moment...didn't Markus & TJ get booted last year? Even I apologized for not being the "kinder and gentler person" I really am. There are children on this site after all.

 Son, I worked in concrete construction of high rise buildings and we used more than your "girly" word.

Nevertheless, read the Coin Talk Rules about cuss words. This is NOT YOUR WORLD. Oh, and I thought you were out of here for good?

Despite what some people think, it is certainly possible to determine a coin as fake from photos alone. Knowledge of style and fabric can condemn a coin. Matching casts can condemn a coin. Study and experience are your best friends here.

Authenticating a coin absolutely by pics alone is another matter.

This one can be condemned. The style is utterly modern. Here is a die match from the Forum fake reports.

Having worked on a construction site myself such language does not offend me but there are rules here and ignoring them is not wise. Offending people just makes them less inclined to share their knowledge and expertise.

Yea I realize that now. You guys are just a bunch of people that think they're too good to help a guy out that doesn't know what he is doing cause you already know everything and expect everyone else to know what you know and instead of using your knowledge you guys rather keep it to yourselves to bost each other up and belittle people that buy and fall for scams cause they don't know any better

I'm sure many of us could hang in "your world" and I'm not necessarily offended, but you did receive some good advise and with your choice of words you essentially flipped them the bird. A long number of years ago when I realized every other word coming out of my mouth was the F-word I made a conscious decision to reform.

    Kristos,
That's not the point. This is not a construction site. It is a site of some very educated people who will be happy to work with you and help you, provided you follow the rules of the forum. There are young numismatists here 12 years old and younger who were directed here because we are a respectable lot of guys and gals. If you are booted you will lose the opportunity to gain a wealth of information in the future. Even the oldest of us have something new to learn. We may disagree at times but we respect that disagreement. The two people I mentioned above I had made friends with and I miss their insights but they could not get along and lost their rights to ever come back to this forum, for life. Is it really worth it?

This forum is not a construction site and the issue is not about being/not being offended by your language. The issue is that many of the posters on this forum are respected collectors, dealers and researchers who deserve a level of respect that you have not shown them. I hope that you would not show this kind of disrespect to your doctor, banker, waitress or barber and I hope that you will realize that it is just as out of place here.

The advice you were given was sound and I can't figure out what set you off. If someone is offering you a coin, but you have to decide "right now" passing is ALWAYS the correct move!

Additionally. This community is spread across the world in many different time zones. Expecting a response immediately is unrealistic.

What advise? To not buy it till I know what a fake and what real is? Real good advise

Oy vey. The comment you're now responding to wasn't directed at you at all.

I'm not even gonna argue with you guys. I thought this was an educational site. Not tell new guys don't buy anything till you know what you're doing. How can someone know what they're doing unless they know what is what, If you guys don't wanna help people out it's your choice and since I offended so many people , this is obviously unreverseable so ill go ahead and head out. To the few that did help me out in the past I do appreciate it you guys actually did teach me a few things

Apparently, you don't understand what people are writing. I for one don't boost up anyone around here unless they get a thrill when I give them a "like."

It's real simple, act like an adult, ask questions, question the answers you receive, hang around here and learn something to augment your outside study and reading about ancients. Take your time, so you spend your money wisely. Remember, we all started where you are.

Also, I don't go on the Internet to see dirty men doing work. I prefer images of attractive women or coins.
