Hello all! It being close to Halloween, I decided to come up with this thread called "Frightening Benjamin Franklin Friday!" (say that 10x fast, lol). In my opinion, he was a strange and peculiar kind of dude for back in the day if you know some of what he was into. He was also strange looking as well but seemed to do well with the ladies as depicted in the picture. Please post pics of coins with Dear Old Benjamin Franklin on coins, tokens, currency or medals... Here a few Picture of him and also..... Get this! TWO "Bugs Bunny" Variety coins...
This should be as scary as it gets. I bought this coin from a company called John Paul Sarosi in 1984. They graded it MS-65. They also put it in a pvc flip. I left the coin in a filing cabinet, unnoticed, for at least 20 years. As you can see, I have been a wonderful stewasrd of this piece. James
Back in my school days I had a teacher that was a walking history book of Franklin's life. I remember a story that was pretty cool. Franklin was in some country and was being hunted but they could not find him. He had a safe room in his home and was able to hide there for a while before he was able to escape the country. Wish I could remember more of my teachers lessons.
Frightening. "In London, his house at 36 Craven Street, which is the only surviving former residence of Franklin, was first marked with a blue plaque and has since been opened to the public as the Benjamin Franklin House. In 1998, workmen restoring the building dug up the remains of six children and four adults hidden below the home. A total of 15 bodies have been recovered. The Friends of Benjamin Franklin House (the organization responsible for the restoration) note that the bones were likely placed there by William Hewson, who lived in the house for two years and who had built a small anatomy school at the back of the house. " Also frightening - this is my birth year.
