I did the same thing when I "corrected" your mistake, it is easy for a non Latin speaker to make that mistake.

Thanks again for the great coin!

Sabina has some great portraits on her coinage, of good style from skilled celators, and the early hairstyle is ery appealing.

    My only example :

Sabina, Denarius Rome mint AD 129
SABINA AVGVSTA HADRIANI AVG P P , draped bust right
CONCORDIA AVG, Concordia seated left holding patera, resting on a statuette of Spes, Cornucopia beneath her seat.

Supposedly she was quite beautiful, but her marriage to Hadrian was rather pathetic. They hated one another and both had their lovers (Hadrian in Antinous and Sabina with Seutonius). Her portraits are quite lovely and lifelike.

I have read that Suetonius, who was a clerk or secretary in the Imperial court was dismissed for behaving in a manner that was considered rude or disrespectful to Sabina. It also appears that Hadrian was completely homosexual, so it seems natural that Sabina would have sought out affection elsewhere. So it certainly seems possible that she and Suetonius might have been lovers. This would also explain his sudden and not fully explained termination from court. However, I am not aware of any direct evidence of an affair between the two.

How I would love to know more about so many of Rome's mysteries!

Yes, especially more of Elagabalus, heck even Caligula, how much of it is true?

    Why did Constantine kill Crispus?

Persian records record a battle in which Gordian III was killed, Roman sources record no such battle.

Did the Persian king really stuff Valerian's corpse and bring it out to show guests?

I read Valerian's stuffed body was used as a foot stool by the Persian king.

Ken is a good guy and has great stuff for reasonable prices. I have my eye on many of his Roman coins so I would appreciate if you all would quit looking at his store!

Since Garum was a fermented fish sauce used as a condiment, try Vietnamese Nuoc cham. I imagine it's very similar.

I have tried some sort of Thai fish sauce and rather like it, but something tells me real Roman garum had the "wow factor."

Why in third century Rome did pretty well everyone kill everyone? Must have seemed a good gig, as many larks tongues as you can eat. Then pow, a poisoned dormouse.
