My son came over with a box of Morgan Dollars he bought from an auction house for about $1 each. We confirmed that they were counterfeit by weighing them. They each weigh about 23 grams. They are very nice looking coins and could pass for authentic to an unknowing person. He has several thoughts for artwork.
You can always donate counterfeits and whizzed coins to a coin club so people can see what they look like.
I'd pay a buck apiece for good quality fake Morgan dollars like that, if I was gonna do a tabletop or something like that. Good use for 'em.
All of them, regardless of date, have the same reverse. They all weigh 23 grams. I am guessing that they were made by the same person. How can we find out if they have any silver?
I will have to ask my son. He bought them for less than $1 each. There must have been some indication.
