I keep coming back to this with one thought….. I know the green oval CAC is their corporate identifiable logo….. I just wonder if it will lead to any confusion on the bourse having that logo on their slabs?
I think I know what you’re saying. But the idea is that all of their problem-free, straight graded slabbed coins are already considered “green beaned.”
Not exactly. There is an "L" designation applied to CAC pieces crossing to CACG. No confusion at all. The same standards will apply to CAC stickered and CACG slabbed pieces. Standards of evaluation will not change because it is now being graded and encapsulated by CACG. If someone is confused on the Bourse between a green or gold sticker with a logo on other TPG slabs, and a CACG slab, I would be very surprised, and question whether that person should be spending $ on coins.
L for “Legacy,” Randy. As in, “this coins legacy was that it was once a PCGS CAC xf45,” and now it’s a CACG XF45. But yeah, if you sub it a raw Seated Half to CACG and it comes back AU58, that means it is equivalent to a PCGS or NGC CAC stickered AU58.
I like the look of the slab but I won't be buying any soon. How do you think this could affect PCGS and NGC values?
I don’t bid / offer above Pcgs or NGC money anyway so a moot issue for me. I don’t see any impact on NGC or PCGS values. Both TPG dominate the number of slabs on eBay by far and will continue to do so.
So if the coin isn’t equivalent to a PCGS or NGC coin with a CAC sticker it gets sent back with no slab at all, just a body bag?
Hello, New to the forum, and I am making my own coin box to fit pcgs holders. Mahogany, and Laser cut acrylic. I am collecting dimes now so that is the size holder I am working with. Does anyone know what the "dime" size (standard) cacg holder is. ? Width x height x thickness. Here is a picture of a box I just made (Why? Why put nice coins in a cheap plastic box) Thank you for any reply
The chip can be detected by postal and other shipping personnel alerting them to pilfer the package unless the expense of a shielded sleeve is purchased to prevent the chip from being detected outside of packaging. Just me, but I don't need or want the chip.
Nice looking slab box. Are you wanting the dimensions of the current gen PCGS slab or CACG slab (the subject of this thread)? Or ALL common TPG slabs? If possible, I would think its best to make your box be grading company agnostic, at least for the 4 major grading companies. I am also looking to have a custom slab box made to my specs, although I think it will end up being 3d printed. I am sick of all major grading companies slab boxes not playing nice with the other brands. CACG attempted to fix this problem with their slab box, but in reality its just too unwieldy and also a real pain to open. I am working on compiling the exact dimensions of each common slab for new and old PCGS, NGC, CACG holders. (I don't own any ANACS graded coins.)
Basically I was design around PCGS which I can measure. In that coin box the slots are 2.6 long x 0.46 wide and the box can hold a slab. 3.30 tall. At the time I was not considering CACG slabs. NCG fits nicely. But CACG, apparently???
Nearly 2 years in, and I still haven’t bought my first CACG coin. I’ve passed over plenty in favor of coins that were raw or in other holders. That’s not to say they can’t grade, but it does tell me I’m not comfortable with the premium they are commanding in the marketplace.
Picked up 3 of the new CACG boxes at the latest FUN show. I like the boxes just fine except for one idiosyncrasy. I found that if you insert PCGS or NGC slabs into the middle five or six positions, it makes it almost impossible to squeeze the box sides to release the hidden clips - you have to insert a screwdriver under the lip and start prying. No problem if you insert CACG slabs into those middle positions. It's like non-CACG slabs are just that little bit wider and prevent the sides of the box from being squeezed inward far enough to release the clips.
I also found this out the hard way when they first released them. I was showing it to someone, put a PCGS slab in the middle to show it fit, snapped on the lid, and lo and behold created a safe because you can't squeeze the sides in with a PCGS slab in the middle. Supposedly they retooled to make the tabs a little shallower since then and rectified the problem.
