I have been trying to find a proof or mint set from the Dominican Republic for some time. It seems they never come up or are too expensive. I was able to pick this 2 piece set up last week and it arrive tonight. I am excited. All are low mintage from a low of 15 to a high of 5000. This one is 500!!! It contains the 10 Centavos and the 1/2 Peso. Both are beautiful specimens. 1973 Dominican Republic Proof Set Mintage 500
Pop 1/0 finer at PCGS with none seen at NGC at this level or higher. In other words, the finest graded example on the planet. First year of issue and a better date. A coin that has it all..,, Very hard to photograph however. Has a super looking blue sheen to the tone that sends light dancing off the surfaces.
Beautiful coin! I once won a Mexican copper 20 C. from a LordM giveaway that really popped-it had that blue sheen you mentioned-really attractive.
Just won this Sunday 29th of January. Can't wait to have this in my hands! Also, I would like anyone who is into Mexican Numismatics, and anything else South of the Border, please join my Group, Mexican Numismatics - Coins, Medals, Rounds...Facebook. Buyers and Sellers from both sides.
Yeah, I think so too. It looks like it has a lot of luster and I love the slight toning around the edges.
Just won this 1989 (500th Anniversary of the Sovereign issue) Tudor Rose quintuple sovereign (5 sovereigns - 40 grams). Have been after one for a while now. (Seller's pictures)
And yet another 1859 Ansell sovereign, bringing my tally to three. Less than a total of 50 known examples. The second row of the headband is quite clearly visible. Seller's pics.
