Every week on my way to work I grab a few cent rolls just to see what I can find. Today they lady gave me the rolls and all new.....I was upset until I moved the paper around a little and noticed I have 2 brand new 2017 P Pennies uncirculated. Good morning so far.

This was a huge shock to me. I haven't seen any here in Northern VA either. Guessing they are showing up here now.

These 2 rolls will be going into my collection for sure. Double checked and they have the P mint mark also.

I've been checking at my BoA branch and the local Publix grocery store with no luck so far. An employee at the local Publix said that they get Brinks deliveries daily, so I'll probably have a better chance of finding a box there.

Did anyone notice that the "7" has a very long leg? Under all the other digits. Is this going to become an issue?

Just looked at my rolls and the enders that I can see has the same 7 so looks normal.

They're putting the P mint mark on pennies now? Not a fan of it personally - after a little bit of wear, the P and the D can look an awful lot alike, especially the smaller mint marks on dimes and quarters.

I thought these were going to be very common. I know on the west side of the US we mostly get the D mint and the east get the P.

I'm in the northeast and newer "D" pennies are definitely rare. I save 2009's and for maybe 3 rolls of "P", I maybe have 2 or 3 D coins total. D nickels, dimes, and quarters seem to make their way up here faster though.

I read somewhere that the P was only getting printed 1 year on the cent for the philly mint 227 year anniversary...

That is the way the "7" is supposed to look, based on the style of numbering that Victor Brenner used when he engraved the obverse in 1909. There were exceptions in the earlier years, but ever since 1974 the "7" has always been long tail.

Just for the year 2017, in recognition of the Philly mint's 225th anniversary. In 2018 the Philly cents will again be without a mint mark.

If anyone can get their hands on a 50-roll box of them, one sold on eBay for $233 recently.
