There are such things as "11 centers", but this is not one. Wrong planchet or denomination overstrikes can only happen when smaller pieces end up restruck on a larger coin's press, and that LAST strike is the predominant one. A cent is larger than a dime (not by a whole bunch, but it is) so what you're suggesting here is a dime planchet somehow got struck in a cent press and THEN somehow got back to the dime line and got re-restruck as the dime it was always meant to be. Pretty convoluted.

Far more likely is that this dime spent some time in earth and was recovered by someone with a metal detector who cleaned it up and whatever chemical they used to cut the grime got on the fingers where the marks behind Roosevelt's head grew. For all we know, the dime was pressed up against a cent while buried, and since cents of that vintage are VERY chemically reactive (copper plated zinc), all sorts of design elements could get etched.

I see two. Where's the third? The dent thing at 1 o'clock on the obverse?

If you look at my avatar you'll see a slabbed and graded Penny struck on a Dime

Yes, and it is the PENNY (cent) that is the dominant design, not the dime. Having very recently toured the Philadelphia Mint, it is disturbing how easy this would be to create. Getting it back is the hard part.

I don't see anything in the images but damage.

  13. I need to go along with the consensus here. I personally see nothing but environmental damage on the dime. And you have a few hundred years of combined experience here telling you that. If you feel the need and have the deep pockets send it in to NGC or PCGS.

we should encourage people like this to waste their money on certifying. Not like they ever do, but these trolls won't listen regardless. Praise them for their skills in finding the next big thing!

Lol well go ahead and send it in to PCGS and post the results when you get them. We will be waiting to hear back from you like the other 20+ posters who were 100% sure they had something, when in fact it was nothing but a face value coin. We will wait

    Harry,
We have done our best to answer the inquiry. A person can only present an opinion, and all did, so at this point, the intelligent thing to do is to cease comments on it and let the OP find another avenue of information. Harry, the human brain and its visioning processes tries to find information in every variation of lines, colors, etc. and it is difficult for a person to interpret them. I looked at your photos very carefully, and I can not justify your comments either. Please use the search function above to seek out other similar threads, and read the rules for the forum. There is a lot to learn and see here, and we are all learning constantly, except for the 'Know all" :) I would not send it for certification , save it and if in a few years you still feel sure, then do so. Welcome , Jim

I did, I see no evidence of doubling, no evidence of traces of a cent design on the coin, all I see is an environmentally damaged dime.

Yes, and now its very reputation has been pretty much trashed, too. Oh the guilt, the overwhelming guilt of it all.
