Whoa dude, calm down. As others have said, it is simply environmental damage. You can test it for yourself, leave a box of dimes out in the dirt for a year and when you dig it up I guarenteed 95% of them will look like your dime. The "E" your are talking about seems to be PMD. Sorry, but I don't see any penny imprints either. This coin is worth 10 cents, no more, no less.
JUst because you been doing it longer dont mean you know iit all HOPE YOU GUYS enjoy eating your words Check out all of the letters and numbers ALL OVER THIS THING I LIKE THE CLOSE UP PICTURE OF THE LETTER E LOOKS JUST LIKE THE LINCOLN MEMORIOL ON THE PENNY DOESNT IT or how bout that A onthe T of liberty or that SAME LINCOLN MEMORIAL OFFOF THE PENNY ON THE BACK OF ROOSEVELTS HEAD THATS RIGTH DONT BE A WISE GUYY YOU DONT KNOW EVERYTHING OLD GUYS thats what makes the hobby so good just when you think you seen it all some thing else great pops up HAVE A NICE LIFE
It's PMD/environmental damage, pitting, could have been squeezed with a penny as well, if your seeing concaved lettering......JMHO
Okay, right from the start there most certainly is some environmental damage. The fields on the reverse show unmistakable pitting. I also see chemical laden fingerprints behind Roosevelt's head on the obverse . I'm not sure what else I see or what I'm intended to see.
Relax Harry. All capital letters mean you are upset and yelling. I looked at your pics and honestly still don't see anything.
Looks like environmental damage to me. The part behind his head is a fingerprint. Like the others said it could be a vice job. Not worth submitting IMO.
You asked your questions and numerous members that have been collecting coins for a long, long time have all basically all answered the same. Environmentally Damaged and/or PMD. We do not claim to be experts, just knowledgeable. If you want an expert to verify what we've stated, then send it to a professional grading service. It will come back to you incased in a nice plastic holder with a label that reads "2001-D Roosevelt Dime, Environmentally Damage, Details". Have a nice day.
How many of us will have to tell you that's a worthless, environmentally-damaged coin before you'll believe? I know the answer to that already because those of us who have devoted our adult lives to learning numismatics have seen your type a thousand times before. However, since you seem to think that a failure to deluge you with instant replies during business hours on a workday equates to the "experts" rethinking their opinions, I thought I'd put my two cents' worth (one-fifth of the value of your coin) in. Have a nice life.
all i see is a very damaged dime looks like it been in the ground i dont see any doubling junk to me worth a dime but thats only my opinion as i only been in collecting more than 50 years
