Tag team. The Jefferson substitute has been announced (in CoinWorld) for sale on August 16th, but this does not appear on the Mint web site yet. The only reason the first two came out together is that they were originally going to be sold as a 4-coin set, but this was cancelled and the first two were delayed. The Dolly Madison coin is scheduled for release in November.

Elaine's predictions are a lot like a game of darts. She fires away. Sometimes she hits the board and sometimes she hits the wall. Weigh each comment individually. I love it when she talks bad about the 2007 W silver eagle. I just keep buying more and more, hoping that she will convince the masses of it's "insignificance" and ultimate "spot price" value in years to come. While this board is informational, there is entertainment value to be had.
.....I believe prices will rebound -this series is still very young and highly compliments the presidential series which is gaining rapidly in popularity -the lower relalized prices are a temporary result of supply and demand just like with the 20th Ann Silver Eagle Sets -they came out on ebay -shot up, then dropped when gobs of them hit the secondary market and now look at where they are priced $$$. Attempts to temporirly sway pricing by posting the "lowest prices paid" on the secondary market in this forum will at best sway those new to the market. For seasoned collectors, this series has the right formula for sustainability in my opion: 20K range mintage, 24K gold, first time "known" women on US coins, and that display case -what a WOWzer! Besides, have you seen any major dealers offering their sets yet? They can buy (10) sets just like the rest of us. okay -I've said enough on this one
In future years do you think the mintage will go up? I believe that if the mintage goes up it will make it more managable for the common collector to buy on the secondary market. This willnot make those coins more valuable, but if the first years 40,000 is the lower mintage I see them holding value, but then again I am a no an experienced coin collector. I have not even recieved mine yet, but I will probably hold onto them as an alternative to the Gold eagles, plus they are nice looking.
Oh, I also wanted to ask.... is it possible that from the 40,000 mintage that they took 40,000 orders for each coin and waited to get those numbers before they finished minting all the coins? Does that make sense? I just wonder since they all sold out at the same time.
That's a good question Decru -from a business perspective -I would expect the Mint to increase the produciton of this series the same as they did with the Silver Quarter series -however, I do not closely follow the "Approved by Congress process", in-other-words, the mintages may already be determined for this years series at 40K- possibly others who do follow this process can comment further. I collect what I like -but having a low mintage, in a unique series with everyone scrambling to buy into the series is the "value added" for me. No one -not even the experts can predict the future. You just kind of extrapolate the market curve and for this series ...it went way up. Albeit, it has dipped some, -but we are very early in the game -
That's what I think. With the Mint continuing to take orders after they sold out in 2 hours -they now have real market data for future releases. Thus another reason why I think the inagural issues will hold their value far above their issue price.
This is confusing. My friends eveing order is showing 8/17 and my midday orders is 9/4. Is that going to happen?
donwtrend for spouse golds spouse gold hit a low of $580.00 on august. see first spouses gold continue downward movement. too many sellers. they are cashing in to buy the next one.
Don't get your hopes up too much RobertR. I got excited when I noticed one day that the expected ship date on my order stopped moving back, until it suddenly slingshotted back out to 15 days. I don't think there is any significance in the discrepancy yet.
Got 2 emails today, one about a backorder and the other (evening order) about a sellout. Anybody get the same?
Ordered one late the 1st day. Got my rejection today for the martha proof. Think a bunch of these sold out/rejection notices went out today. So many have been weeded out. Mine was at like 6 pm eastern time. I knew from the start that I had no chance but was intersting to watch. Good luck to all those who are still in the hunt.
