    Hello all,

First stab at pictures so please be gentle (Constructive criticism appreciated).
Picked this up today for $1.00. Wondering if it's a die break or a delamination. Any opinions? 24buff.jpg

A Die Break or Crack is a break on the Die itself.. not on the Planchet
So The coin would have a raised line on the surface due to the flow of metal going into the break or crack.
More likely a Lamination. Or the better term you used Delamination.

In the interest being as pedantic as possible, I'd not refer to it as a "delamination" until metal has actually departed the surface. Until then, it's a "lamination." :)

It just looks like a planchet crack to me which isn't a lamination or a delamination.

Looking at it, that's a fair characterization in this case. We'll go with that. :)

Agreed when I first looked at the specimen my thoughts were bisected rim to rim die crack. As there's no peeling of metal. But a platchet flaw or crack seems more likely on this one.
