Looks more like an Ancient coin, no? I don't know squat about them but this looks very interesting, to me anyways. ;)

Fantasy piece? I couldn't find anything like it online. Also, it looks like there may be a casting seam (4-5 o'clock on the first photo.)

    How about some more information.

How did you acquire the item?
What's the size? Place it next to a US quarter and take another picture.

It doesn't look like any kind of legit coin IMHO

Maybe it's a communion token or maybe it's just a fantasy token! thumbsup.gif

It has a very 17th century appearance to it, BUT the soft surfaces and apparent casting make me think it's a modern fantasy issue of some kind. But what, I can't say. European; perhaps Scandinavian in style. But it's definitely not a 17th century coin like it appears to be at first glance. Despite the old-timey style, the way it's made looks modern. That soft casting and the fact that it was once plated with something silvery makes me think it's a tourist copy of something.

PS- It does appear you've got King Neptune and his trident on the reverse.

I noticed the Roman number XII on one side. I was wondering if it might be a zodiac sign. The 12th zodiac sign is Pisces and Neptune is involved. Might have something to do with this.

I want to thank all of you for replying. The coin is a mystery to us. It might have been acquired by my Danish mother in Lebanon or elsewhere in the Middle East in the 1960's & 70's. Or by my husband's family in their antique store in Dallas in the 1946-1987. Was it coated in silver? I'm not sure, the color is of a green cast. The crown with a cross on top looks Viking to me, but what do I know! Again, thank you so much for your kindness. I'm uploading another photo with a quarter beside it.
