Found this baby online. Someone decided to make marks in the half dollar to the left and right side of the head. The rest of the coin looks pretty decent. I was thinking the coin was around VF 30. What is the coin worth and what grade do you think it is?

I hate to see all these CBH's scratched & defaced :(

Well, the first factor when grading this coin is the knowledge that the carved initials render it a "Details" opinion; the coin won't straight-grade. By convention, Details coins generally don't include a numeric designation in the grade. Without having the reverse to look at, all I can offer is an opinion of the obverse and not a "grade," and allowing for a late die state I still don't see the level of wear being much better than Fine Details.

On the bright side - to me - those are my initials so I might be more interested in it than some. :)

Unfortunately the site doesn't offer a reverse photo.

The coin is worth very little at this point.

It's not just a scratch, those initials are deeply carved in.
Probably turning an $80 coin into a $40 coin.
    Grade hmm F-15 details.
