I could also ask if your other hobbies intersect with coins in any way?

Aside from coins, my second interest is comic books, followed by Autographs, action figures, fossils, & tv show dvd sets.

And no, they don't intersect much, other then fossils.

I could easily get into fossils if I let myself!

Yay astronomy! I'd love to do astrophotography, especially since worked for several years at a job that had me doing a good bit of image processing, but (a) I don't have anything with a drive-mount and (b) the sky here is lousy with light pollution, limiting magnitude 4 at the zenith on a good night.

I've been interested in astronomy since I was a kid. Always dreamed about building a telescope (starting with mirror-grinding), but never did. Bought an Orion Dobsonian 10-inch light bucket ten or fifteen years ago, but it's mostly gathering dust, see above. I did see that a science museum in my parents' hometown has a similar model on the fancy equatorial drive mount moldering in their basement, and thought about suggesting a trade or carry-out-in-exchange-for-donation, but never did.

Most of my other hobbies are dormant, but they include photography, electronics, and chemistry. Yeah, there's some intersection with coins there.

Care to share some details about exposure and camera gear on those photos?

I started out with one of those, great scope, but once I got interested in photographing what I was looking at I sold it on Craigslist and got into SCTs and Refractors along with that computerized mount.

I tried using my DSLR without much luck, the skillset needed there is WAY over my head. I use a ZWO ASI120MC for the solar system stuff and an Mallincam video camera for the deep space work.

I only get a few nights a year where I have both good skies and time to get out under them, so I have never been able to develop my skills much or get the pretty shots some people do.

No, the Horesehead Nebula is a different one. the skies are not really good enough in my area for me to do much with it.

I collect postal covers from WW II ships, mostly submarines that were lost and I am just starting on building wooden ship models.

@Aethelred those are some truly stunning images!! I'm too saturated by light pollution from the city. I'll live vicariously through Hubble and the JWST soon.

A hobby I've been into for a couple years is flying quadcopters/"drones" but for the longest time I was just flying tiny little "toy" copters. I recently bought FPV(first person video) goggles and built a quadcopter with FPV equipment and have been flying it just about every single day at lunch, weather permitting.

Mushroom hunting. I played guitar a lot for 15+ years but lost virtually all interest after college.

I'd like to get a nice telescope to use with the kids. What does a decent one like the OP go for? Under $1000?

neat hobbies. i figure most coins collectors are a varied diverse group. i've many interest, however i haven't the time or resources to make them all hobbies. i collect artifacts and memorabilia, along with copies of helmets and armor. i have a few real ones too. i post them on G+ collections: ARTIFACTS, OLD ANCIENT INTERESTING if anyone would care to see. i post most everyday something or rather so yeah, that would intertwine with coins pretty much i guess.

It's a lot of fun, especially if you have a good place to fly and you enjoy tinkering with things. Luckily I've got a huge open field near the office that is always empty and a flexible work schedule, so as long as I'm getting my job done I can sneak out during the decent parts of the day and get a half hour or so of flying in.

The telescope in the original post is a Celestron 8" SCT on a computerized German Equatorial Mount. They do not make the exact setup I have anymore, but something very similar should be around $2000 less the camera and dual speed focuser that I have added.
