Plus baseball is on a coin what once a decade if that, National Parks are constantly on a number of coins.

Well, I bought Jackie from the Mint, yet, most of the Black themed commems have not sold well from the mint. There are many fine people collecting coins, but I see more racists here than in the general population. That, along with other variables, is why the 2014 Baseball coins sold so well, yet, Jackie did not.

As for which design I prefer, definitely the National Park commem.

So now if someone doesn't buy a black themed coin they're racists? I
guess we should just ignore that the Franklin Roosevelt only sold about 10k extra from the Jackie and the gold series from that point on really saw mintage's going lower and lower for the most part.

The Jackie coin really didn't have the best design either, should have been him playing 2nd base.

The 2014 baseball was the first of it's kind from the US Mint and had a great design for what it was.

But I guess just calling everyone a racist is easier

I didn't call everyone a racists - I guess accusing someone of that is easier. Look at all the Black themed coins, they don't sell well. Look at criticism of Black themed proposed designs, heck even Coin World called it what it is, racism.

They also have poor designs overall and in some cases you see similar sale numbers in the same series around the same time. People buy commemorates from being passionate about the subject matter and/or a beautiful design. The civil rights coin has an awful design, the black patriots was pretty bad design wise as well, and as I mentioned the Jackie could have had an amazing obverse.

There are plenty of coins that don't sell well, there was no need to be calling people racists over it.

You're right, racism had nothing to do with lower sales - racism is dead.

Sorry total false equivalence equating low sales to racism. What about the 5 star general gold coin did that not sell well because everyone's a pacifist? The Jackie Robinson gold coin obverse is horrendous looking and poor design usually equates with poor sales. Why didn't people buy the National Parks gold then does everyone hate nature?

Lol well I guess we got to the point of just playing the race card because facts won't agree really fast

So, back to what a great winner the Parks will be. I mean com'on, Teddy Roosevelt John Muir, Half Dome, and an awesome arrowhead sign. What's not to like?

I have 4 NPS, 1 Jackie, and almost all the rest. Most are selling for melt price :( even some of the more recent ones with low mintage. Too many mint products.

Yeah, too many mint products, but, when I sold my complete collection of unc $5 golds in 2010, about half sold for way over melt, and the rest for a little over melt. Actually, I had around $6,000 into them and they sold for around $30,000.

You bought when and sold when?

I bought one of each from the mint starting in 1986 and sold around 2010. Well, actually I bought more than one of each and sold the multiples over the years, the 2010 sale was the one of each I kept for my collection, so even though not graded, they were mostly 70's.

Now that we have a new record low mintage in the Parks, I'm back into the gold commems and not so concerned about the price of gold collapsing.

Maybe, yet it took 20 years to break the Jackie record. Even if it is beat, from what I remember in 2010, the other low mintage ones sold in the $1,500 to $2,000 range. Guess I should check current selling prices, have they gone up or down? I did notice that last year Jackie sold for well below the $3,500 that I got for it, was that because it looked like the Parks was going to beat it?

Hmm. So, the question is.. when should I sell my parks coin?

That's always a good question, unless it's never.

eBay national park $5 gold unc last two sales dated feb 2 and feb 3 traded at $850.00 each. Mint report dated Feb 5 stated the unc down again by 10 pc. We might see the price for this issue hit $1,000.00 soon.
