    Hi all,

I posted this in the wrong section and I wanted to post here to see if I could deduce what exactly this error is and if it's worth anything.

The two spots of interest include the large imprint on the upper left of the reverse and the two lines that create an angle coming off of the neck of the eagle below the beak.

Thank you! Let me know what you all think.

The bubbling looks as though something like some kind of acid may have been dripped on it. The other two marks may be die gouges. I'll wait for everyone else and see what they say.

    Struck through... seaweed? o_O

Since the marks under the beak are incuse, I'd guess damage, and that would make me suspect damage for the other mark as well -- but it's hard to tell without extreme close-up photos or in-hand examination, I think.

Lotsa luck melting a trench that tiny and sharp into a metal that conductive -- especially without disturbing nearby luster.

If this is an error, would it more likely be delamination, a strike through, or a damaged planchet?

    Yes.

Too little information available to come to any firm conclusions, even after satisfying my neuroses by "fixing" the image somewhat:

My first thought would be a delamination, but the "features" on the neck seem to resemble a strikethrough. And there's something worth looking at down under DOLLAR.....

I reckon the trench would have needed to already exist for my torch-held-by-a-little-kids-hand theory. I just think the bubbling inside the trench looks a lot like melted metal - as if somebody tried to perform a crude repair/patch job. I'm really just taking a loose guess from given photos.

I would have gone for either but the bubbling effect has me wondering. Never seen that on a lamination before.
